The “Eyes of God” – A Full Day Tour to Prohodna cave and the Glozhene monastery

INTRODUCTION:
Prohodna (The Eyes of God) cave and the Glozhene Monastery are two totally different sites and each is unique in its kind.
Prohodna is a massive cave and for sure one of the most impressive natural wonders in Bulgaria. “The Eyes of God” is how the locals call the cave, because of the enormous, eyes-looking twin holes on the ceiling. The light comes inside the cave trough those “eyes” and trough the two huge entrances which are up to 45 meters high and creates unique atmosphere. When is raining, tears are coming down from the “Eyes” and the legend says that God is the one who cries! Definitely Prohodna is e very special place and when you go there you will feel the energy by yourself!
Next stop on the tour is the Glozhene Monastery. A beautiful mountain road will take us among the cool, centuries-old forests of the Balkan Mountains where we will find hidden, the picturesque Glozhene Monastery, dating back to the 13th century.

ITINERARY:
Your guide will pick you up at 09:00 the morning from your place in Sofia and within an hour and a half (110 km) scenic drive through the Balkan Mountains you will arrive at the Iskar Gorge, near the village of Karlukovo, amidst one of Bulgaria’s largest karst regions. There we will explore one of the most impressive natural wonders in Bulgaria- Prohodna Cave (“The Eyes of God”). Later the tour continues with a short transfer (45 min. / 35 km) to the the stunning Glozhene Monastery “St. George the Victorious”, established in the middle of 13th century.
After the Monastery’, only if you like we can stop for a delicious lunch in a traditional restaurant. In the late afternoon, we will head back towards Sofia, where the driver will drop you off at your place.
